I helped develop this innovative brand from scratch, creating 40 jobs and building it into one of the Top 5 UK mortgage brokers within 1 year. This was one of the first financial services companies to effectively use online marketing to generate large numbers of relevant leads for the business. The brand still exists under a different ownership structure.

 

I ran the marketing strategy, planning and implementation, making particular use of PR, search engine optimisation, pay-per-click advertising, direct e-mail campaigns, local press inserts and lead generation deals with third party introducers.

My role as Director of International Marketing at a US companycalled Corillian saw me explaining to national and personal finance media – using market research and round table ‘teach-ins’ - the principle of account aggregation software for ther first time in the UK.  Corillian was later acquired by Fiserv.

Launch of new First Active brand in the UK – brand value audit, creation and implementation of integrated marketing strategy through B2B and B2C distribution channels for mortgages, insurance, savings and regulated financial services products.

 

Developed the marketing, communications and PR behind the UK’s first ever Current Account Mortgage in 1996, launching it exclusively via intermediaries. A new type of financial services product was thus created.

 

Development of First Active’s e-commerce strategy, integrating the internet (PC, interactive digital TV and WAP technology based) into all activities across the company, including acquisition, customer relationship management, cross-selling and retention.  Launch of firstactive.co.uk in June 1999.

 

Control and allocation of £5 million annual UK marketing budget.

 

Managed 15 staff (10 marketing specialists, 5 independent financial advisers) and the relationship with the third party banking services provider in Guernsey (CIBC).
